Exploring Social Media Presentation
Last night I presented at Rosemont’s very first Take Flight With Rosemont Professional Development series offered to Rosemont College alumni and friends. The topic was Exploring Social Media. Rachel McCarter, Rosemont’s Director of Alumnae first contacted me back in December via LinkedIn. Rachel has truly embraced Social Media and has made sure Rosemont has a strong presence on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Understanding the power of Social Media, Rachel wanted to make sure that alumnae had a chance to learn about the marketing potential of Social Media and she asked if I would speak at the First Take Flight event. I can’t tell you how honored I was to have been asked to speak at the first workshop. I am a graduate of Rosemont (Class of 1996!) and so much of who I am today is a direct result of the four years I spent at Rosemont.The workshop took place at Rosemont’s Center City Campus. I spoke to the group about the various Social Media Networks and we discussed demographics, finding their target audience and then we talked about how to create a strong social media presence. Afterward I answered their questions and we brainstormed on how they could use Social Media to market their businesses. It was a blast!
At the end of the workshop, Rachel presented me with a gold paperweight in the shape of a star with the Rosemont seal engraved on it. I actually got a little choked up accepting such a lovely gift. The star is sitting here on my desk and I can’t help but see it and smile.
