Construction Specifications Institute Presentation

At around 2pm yesterday, I got a call from an old friend and old customer of mine (from my old job back when I sold design software to architects and engineers), Walt Zapor.
“Hey Donna, I keep up with you on LinkedIn and see you are always out doing Social Media presentations!”
“Yeah, I do a couple a month.”
“Well, my group is meeting tonight and our Social Media presenter cancelled on us…”

He wanted to know if I would be able to step up. The meeting started at 5:30. Oh, and it would be in Philadelphia and they were expecting at least 50 people.

What does a girl say to something like that?

“SURE! I’ll do it!

At that moment I delved into my computer and found one of my favorite presentations, To Tweet or Not To Tweet and I started updating the screenshots and statistics. Yeah, things change fast in the Social Media world. What did Ferris Bueller say? Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

At any rate, once the presentation was acceptable, I got myself ready and by 4:30 I was in my car heading to Philadelphia.

When I woke up that morning I never would have thought I would end the evening, eating a wonderful dinner and talking to a crowd of engineers, architects, vendors, spec writers, etc…

Even though I wasn’t prepared or practiced, because I’ve given that presentation before, it all came back to me and felt good.

Thank you Construction Specifications Institute members for being an awesome audience!

Although I can’t make sure you do your homework, I do hope you go out there and set up some Google Alerts and work on your LinkedIn profile.
