"An effective Web presence incorporating social media is a critical component of today's successful business plans"

Hide Friends, Pages, Applications from your Facebook Newsfeed

One of the things that came up on during my Social Networking Etiquette to Business Success presentation was a question on how to graciously defriend people on Facebook. I suggested instead of defriending someone, instead hide them from your newsfeed. OR if the person is sending out way too many game announcements and updates, hide the game applications.

No one seemed to be aware that this was possible.

Yelp Demographics

Yelp Demographics

I have been an advocate of Yelp.com for quite some time. One of the first things I did when I started my business is I claimed my Yelp listing! And now as I help my clients create amazingly powerful digital footprints on the Internet, one of the things I do is help them claim and trick out their own Yelp listing.

Social Networking Etiquette for Business Success Presentation

Social Networking Etiquette for Business Success Presentation

This morning I spoke at the Lower Bucks County Women’s Resource Committee’s monthly networking meeting. The title of my presentation was “Social Networking Etiquette for Business Success.”

We had a great turnout! Apparently, twice as many people showed than usual. The topic is one that intrigues people, I think. You hear so much about Social Networking and business people want to join in but they are afraid of taking that first step because they aren’t sure of how to behave…. or what to put out there.

Wells Presbyterian Church Website Design

Wells Presbyterian Church Website Design

Ron called me up and told me about his little church by the shore. They decided it was time to have a Website but as with most churches, they didn’t have a lot of money to spend. Oh, and they wanted a beautiful site AND they wanted to be able to add photos and blog and make changes on the fly to the site… THEMSELVES!

I’ve always wanted to do a Web design for a church and so I said, “LET’S GO!” I secured the church Website hosting, I registered their domain name and installed WordPress on the server. Because they didn’t have a lot of money to work with, I searched the Internet for a premium WordPress theme that didn’t need a whole lot of customization. I found a couple different design templates I thought they’d like and reviewed them with Ron. Ron looked them over and fell in love with the one theme. I immediately applied the theme and went to work creating the pages. Ron had given me a lot of information but I still had to go through and determine what info fell on what pages. Once finished, I reviewed it with Ron and we went back and forth a couple times making changes and getting the site perfect.

Now here’s the crazy part. FOUR DAYS AFTER HE CALLED ME, THE SITE WAS LIVE AND POINTING WORSHIPPERS TO HIS CHURCH!!!!
